Fillings

Fillings

A filling replaces tooth structure damaged by a cavity and acts as part of your tooth. Cavities are holes in the teeth caused by exposure to bacteria or tooth fracture. If caught early enough, cavities can be easily and painlessly treated with a filling.

Fillings reinforce tooth structure if there is a cavity or fracture in the tooth. Those who are candidates for fillings can expect the following outcomes:

  1. Restoration of tooth damaged by decay or fracture

  2. Improved chewing ability and function

  3. Improved appearance of teeth

A filling can be completed in one visit. The process begins with an application of a local anesthetic to numb the affected tooth. Once the area is numb, the decayed part of the tooth is removed by hand piece, followed by the application of the restoration. Our office provides both tooth-colored and silver restorations, based on patient preference.
